ELL Support in Classrooms (grade 3)
To work with the classroom teacher to provide support to ELL students (1:1 or in a group of no more than 3) once or twice a week.
Flu Shot Supervision- Volunteers
This job will require our volunteers to escprt students to and from their classrooms to the library(the site of the flu shot clinic). Once in the library, you are required to monitor student behavior and assist, as needed with helping students get lined up for their shots. This event will take place on - Wednesday November 25th from 8:00am - 11:00am.
ICY After School Art Project
This volunteer opportunity is for an art class on Tuesdays afterschool from 2:15pm - 4:30pm from September 30, 2015 to May 10, 2016 in classroom O102.
Kapahulu-Kuhio Lawn Maintenance
Maintain the grounds in the triangular lawn on the corner of Kapahulu and Kuhio. Job entails, but is not limited to: watering and maintaining of trees and grass and pick up rubbish n the area and near the fenceline.
Lunch Supervisor
Location: Cafeteria Work Description: Job includes, but is not limited to: monitoring of student behaviors during lunch, reminding students of cafeteria rules and regulations, assisting with the disposal of food, assist with the dismissal of students from the cafeteria. Monday through Friday. Hours are from 11:30am - 1:00pm.
Maintenance - Aquaponics
Location: Fenced area between buildings O and Q. Work Description: job includes, but is not limited to: monitoring of pH and water levels in all aquaponics systems, conducting checks on the health status of both plants and fish, cleaning out and maintaining pumps and filters, feeding of fishes.
Maintenance - Hydroponics Garden
Location: Fenced area between buildings O and Q. Work Description: Job includes, but is not limited to: checking pH and water levels in each hydroponic kit, adding nutrients to ensure pH is between 4.5 and 6, working with other volunteers in our hydroponics garden.
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
The President Thomas Jefferson Elementary School PTO is organized for the purpose of supporting and enhancing the educational experiences of the school's students by: 1. Providing an organization through which the parents, school and teachers can work cooperatively; and 2. Providing financial support for programs funded outside of the annual school budget. We are seeking volunteers to assist with various committees such as Membership, Education, Social, Community Service, and Fundraising. Meetings take place on the third Wednesday of every month at 5:45 P.M in the schools cafeteria.
Reading Fluency
This job will require one (1) volunteer to assist students in their oral reading fluency. Job will be in a 4th grade class setting.
STEM: Robotics (Level 2)
Assist with after-school robotics instruction, including construction of components, providing students with guidance/support, and assisting students in the use of the engineering design process. Basic knowledge of robotics and VEX IQ; past participation or volunteer work in robotics are prerequisites for this volunteer opportunity.

Assist in after-school robotics activities by preparing materials, kits, and learning tools for student use No previous knowledge is required.
Traffic Monitors
Locations: main entrance on Kapahulu Avenue and back entrance on Wainani Way. Work Description: Job includes, but is not limited to: assisting with the monitoring of traffic flow prior to school start of school (7:30am-8:00am) and/or after school has ended for the day (2:00pm-2:45pm, 1:15-2:00pm on Wednesday), assisting students as they enter, exit vehicles.
Vision and Hearing Screening - Volunteers
Location: Library Job Description: Job includes, but is not limited to: assisting with keeping students organized and in lines, assisting the Lions Club as they set up and take down materials needed for the day, walking to classes to bring them to the library. Event is a 1 day event that is scheduled for Friday -October 02, 2015 from 8:00am to 12:00NOON (for Hearing). Event is a 1 day event that is scheduled for Friday - November 13, 2015 from 8:00am to 11:00am (for Vision).

Location: Diamondhead side of Building C Work Description: Work with other volunteers to maintain our Native Hawaiian garden. Tasks include, but are not limited to: watering of Hawaiian plants, caring for /cultivation of plants, removing weeds and invasive plants, learning about Hawaiian techniques for gardening.
Volunteer Gardener - Raised Planter Beds
Location: Garden beds are located between Buildings M and Q. Work Description: Job includes, but is not limited to: working with the other volunteer gardeners, water our raised garden beds, and maintaining our raised garden beds.
Volunteer Gardener - Ti Leaf Gardens
Location: Area behind (mauka) of building R Work Description: Maintain the ti leaf garden. Job includes, but is not limited to: watering of plants, weeding of invasive plants (control area of the garden), working with other volunteer gardeners in the area, maintaining the student-designed week-blocking system.
Volunteer Readers - Grades K through 5
Location: various classrooms
Work Description: Job includes, but is not limited to: reading of books to our Grade K- 5 students. Up to 3 volunteer readers per grade level. Event will take place on Wednesdays from 1:00pm - 1:25pm.
Watch DOGS Volunteer
Watch D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students) is am innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering. It is a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into our nation's classrooms and hallways. Assistance is needed from: 7:30am - 8:15 am to greet students in our Kapahulu parking lot and to monitor traffic flow entering and leaving our campus. 11:30am - 1:00pm to assist the cafeteria lunchroom supervisor in maintaining a safe and orderly cafeteria. 2:00pm-3:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 1:15pm-2:00pm on Wednesday to monitor traffic flow on and off of our campus.
